Are you scheduling a personal profile, a company Page or both?
Start with the destination, then the format. A founder's personal profile and the company's LinkedIn Page need separate publishing connections and may involve different permissions. A tool that handles your text posts can still leave gaps in document publishing, account access or final approval.
For an individual managing their own posts, LinkedIn's native scheduler is the first option to consider. LinkedIn documents a scheduling window from ten minutes to three months ahead for personal posts. Its current help also describes editing and rescheduling through the scheduled-post menu. Personal scheduling rules.
Pages have different rules. A super admin or content admin can schedule between one hour and three months ahead. Page admins can edit scheduled content, and other admins can manage posts already in the queue. LinkedIn lists exclusions including multiple-photo posts, polls and reshares, so a Page workflow needs its own format check. Page scheduling rules.

| Your main job | Start with | Important boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Schedule your own straightforward LinkedIn posts | LinkedIn's native scheduler | Profile and Page timing and format rules differ |
| Manage a profile and Page alongside other social channels | Buffer | Connecting a Page requires Super Admin access |
| Schedule document-led posts | Publer or ContentStudio | Check file handling and the final document before scheduling |
| Write for a personal profile and cross-post elsewhere | Typefully | Verify each required media format separately |
| Route executive posts through an explicit sign-off gate | Ordinal | Choose blocking approval when unapproved content must stay unpublished |
These choices address different jobs. Buffer's LinkedIn guide, Publer's document guide, ContentStudio's PDF instructions, Typefully's publishing destinations and Ordinal's approval rules explain the relevant boundaries.
Can the person doing the work connect the account?
Native Page access does not automatically establish third-party connection permission. Buffer requires a Page Super Admin to connect or refresh a Company or Showcase Page; a Content Admin cannot perform that step. Personal profiles are connected by authorizing the relevant person's own profile. Buffer also counts a personal profile and a Page as two channels. Connection and account rules.
Resolve this before choosing a paid plan. An executive can authorize their own connection while a colleague handles drafts through the tool's permitted collaboration roles. Avoid building a process around sharing the executive's password. Name a backup Page administrator and document who can refresh a disconnected channel.
What changes for PDFs and video?
A document carousel deserves a separate row in your buying checklist. Uploading a PDF, uploading several images and attaching a video are distinct jobs.

| Destination and format | Question to resolve before scheduling |
|---|---|
| Personal profile, text | Are links, mentions and the final author correct? |
| Company Page, text | Does the connected Page match the intended company? |
| Personal profile, video | Does the tool accept the actual file and preserve required captions? |
| Company Page, video | Who checks the final thumbnail and caption? |
| Personal profile, PDF | Can the publisher add the title and preserve page order? |
| Company Page, PDF | Does approval cover the uploaded document as well as the post text? |
Buffer documents PDF scheduling on the web, with one document per post, a maximum of 100 MB and 300 pages, and a required title. Its guide says mobile document support is coming soon. Buffer PDF limits.
Publer describes document scheduling on desktop and mobile, including PDF, PPT and DOC uploads. ContentStudio documents PDFs for both profiles and Pages but says it cannot edit or reorder the PDF pages after upload. Finalize the document in its authoring tool before handing it over. Publer formats, ContentStudio document handling.
What should an executive approval process require?
Use a six-draft checklist: text, video and PDF for the personal profile, then the same three formats for the Page. That is two destinations multiplied by three formats, with six distinct checks before you count approval steps.
Give each draft an owner, reviewer, intended account and publication time. Require review of the final media, including every PDF page. Decide whether a changed caption or replacement file requires renewed approval, and assign someone to check the published result.
Ordinal distinguishes optional approval from blocking approval, which prevents an unapproved scheduled post from publishing. That distinction matters more than an approval badge. Ordinal approval behavior.
Use our native LinkedIn scheduling review for the baseline, then the Typefully, Publer, ContentStudio and Ordinal reviews for the shortlisted workflow. Choose the tool that covers your account roles and recurring formats before comparing entry prices.
